iDEAL payments in Squarespace with Plug&Pay

Update Feb. 25, 2026:
iDEAL payments are now available in Squarespace Payments. Read here to find out what this means.

Why Squarespace doesn't support iDEAL (and how Plug&Pay solves it!)

Squarespace is a popular website builder, but it doesn't directly support iDEAL payments. This can be a bit of a hurdle if you're selling products or services to Dutch customers. Luckily, there's a solution: Plug&Pay.

With Plug&Pay, you can easily create payment links and integrate iDEAL payments into your Squarespace website. What's more, the tool offers extra features like upsells, discount codes, and subscriptions, helping you generate more sales.

What's Plug&Pay and how does it work?

Creating and Integrating Payment Links

With Plug&Pay, you create a separate checkout (payment link) for each product or service. You then link this to a button on your Squarespace website. This makes it super easy for customers to pay with iDEAL, without needing a full online store.

Plug&Pay lets you:

  • Create your own checkout pages with different templates.

  • Set up thank you pages, either through Plug&Pay or your Squarespace website.

  • Use extra sales-boosting features, like upsells and impulse buys.

Connecting with Moneybird

If you use Moneybird for your accounting, you can link it to Plug&Pay. Invoices will still be sent from Plug&Pay, but they'll automatically be added to Moneybird. This saves you a lot of manual importing, so you'll have all your invoices in one place for your bookkeeping.

Connecting with Mailblue / Active Campaign

If you use Mailblue (or the English version, Active Campaign), you can link this tool with Plug&Pay. This means that after a payment, someone can automatically be added to a list in Mailblue. For example, an automation can then kick off with one or more emails giving more info about the product they just bought or login details for a course.

The cheapest Mailblue subscription is €15 per month (or €108 per year). You can try Mailblue for free for 2 weeks.

Which payment providers work with Plug&Pay?

To process payments, you'll need a payment provider. Plug&Pay works with:

  • Mollie

  • Stripe

In the Netherlands and Belgium, Mollie is mostly used.

Plug&Pay vs. a full online store

Plug&Pay is perfect if you offer individual services or products and don't need a full-blown online store. Since it works with payment links, customers can only check out one product at a time.

Do you need a shopping cart where customers can add multiple products? Then Shopify or Ecwid are better alternatives. Check out this blog post for more info.

How much does Plug&Pay cost?

  • Lite: €25 per month (up to 3 products and 50 transactions per month)

  • Premium: €69 per month (unlimited products, upsells, subscriptions, up to 500 transactions per month)

  • Ultimate: €149 per month (including an affiliate system and extra features)

If you sign up for a full year, you'll pay less per month.

Conclusion

Want to offer iDEAL payments on your Squarespace website? Then Plug&Pay is a fantastic solution. With extra features like upsells and discount codes, you'll get more out of your payments than if Squarespace supported iDEAL itself.
