How to create a redirect to a thank you page in Squarespace
What is a thank-you page?
You probably have a contact form on your website’s contact page. But maybe you use other forms on your website as well. In your form’s settings, you can enter the text that visitors will see after they click the submit button. The form disappears and is replaced by the text you entered. For example: Thank you for your message; I’ll get back to you as soon as possible. (You could also make this a bit more original, by the way ;-)) Your website visitor will remain on your contact page. Another option is to automatically redirect the visitor to a thank-you page.
Why would you want to do this?
On a separate page, you can do more than just thank someone for reaching out and let them know how soon they can expect a response from you. You can include a lot more information there. For example, your most popular blog posts, the sign-up form for your newsletter, or a short introductory video of yourself. Take advantage of the fact that people are interested in you and are already on your website. They might click through and discover something else interesting, or end up signing up for your mailing list.
It’s also useful if, for example, you spend a lot of time tracking website data and/or measuring conversions in Google Analytics.
How do you create a thank-you page?
First, you need to create the new page. Place it in your "Not Linked" section. In the page settings, under SEO, check the box to indicate that this page should not be indexed. That way, this page won't appear unintentionally in Google search results.
In addition to your own thank-you message (thank you, and I’ll email you back, etc.), you can fill the rest of the page with whatever you like. Think about what might be of interest to someone who’s contacting you at that moment. Maybe not all your blog posts, but perhaps just those from a specific category—or your four most recent ones.
Or an opt-in for your newsletter. Or you might highlight a specific promotion. Consider each form individually and, if necessary, create multiple thank-you pages.
If you want to keep it simple, you can also use a Cover Page as a thank-you page. (Only in 7.0).
How do you set up the redirect?
Go to your form's settings via Edit.
Go to the Advanced tab.
Go to “Post-Submit Redirect”
Here, select the page or enter the URL of your thank-you page
Click "Apply" and you're done.
