Personal or Business Plan? Which one to pick?

In Squarespace, you can choose between the Personal and Business plans. The Personal plan is cheaper than the Business plan. But don’t let the cost be your main deciding factor. If you have your own business or want to start one, chances are you’ll be better off with the Business plan. That makes sense, right? I’ll explain the benefits of this plan below.

(I’ll leave Squarespace’s e-commerce plans out of this blog post.)

14-day trail

If you want to build your website with Squarespace, you’ll need to create an account first. This is free and doesn’t require any credit card information. After that, you’ll have 14 days to explore Squarespace and create a preliminary layout for your website.

You can try out different templates, see how the Squarespace backend works, and experiment with fonts, colors, image options, and more. However, you can't publish your site yet.

After 2 weeks, your trial ends. Using a link provided by Squarespace, you can extend the trial by another week. After that, you’ll have to switch to a paid plan (which requires a credit card). If you don’t pay, you’ll no longer have access to your account. Fortunately, everything you’ve created won’t be lost—no worries.

Extend the trail

Since I'm a Squarespace Circle member, I have options for an even longer trail. Email me if you'd like to know more about this.

The Business Plan

The advantages of the Business Plan compared to the Personal Plan.

  • Can be integrated with Mailchimp (or via a Code Block with, for example, Active Campaign)

  • You can add more than one other user to your site (in case you're working on your site with multiple people, such as a virtual assistant, your web designer, and/or guest bloggers)

  • working with CSS (which lets you, for example, set your own font sizes for mobile devices and much more to further optimize your site)

  • work with Summary Blocks, which you can use, for example, to make your blog look better

  • enable integration with a scheduling tool such as Acuity Scheduling

  • Create a pop-up for, say, your newsletter opt-in

  • Using an announcement bar at the top of your page (for example, to draw attention to something—even temporarily)

  • better analytics capabilities

So if you want one of the options listed above, go with the Business Plan. For an additional 72 euros a year, it makes everything just a little bit easier.

The costs

  • Personal = 132 euros (excl. VAT)*

  • Business = 204 euros (excl. VAT)*

    * for annual payment. Prices are subject to change.
