Bancontact payments in Squarespace with Plug&Pay
If you sell your services to customers in Belgium through your Squarespace website, you likely want to be able to offer Bancontact as a payment method. Unfortunately Squarespace doesn’t support this.
Fortunately, there’s a great solution: Plug&Pay. In this blog post, you’ll learn how to set up Bancontact payments through Plug&Pay, what you’ll need, how much it costs, and what to keep in mind.
How does Plug&Pay work with Squarespace?
Plug&Pay works as a third-party payment solution that you used besides your Squarespace website. You create a separate payment link (known as a checkout) for each product or service in Plug&Pay. You then link that payment link to a button on your Squarespace website. It’s that simple.
The visitor clicks the button, is redirected to the Plug&Pay checkout page, and can pay there using Bancontact. You don’t have to do anything else: the payment is processed automatically.
Create payment links with Plug&Pay
For each product or service, you create a separate checkout page in Plug&Pay. A checkout page is more than just a payment form: you can include your own text, USPs, and customer reviews. There are several templates available that you can customize as you see fit.
Once payment is complete, you decide what happens next. You can set up a Plug&Pay-style thank-you page or redirect customers to a page on your own Squarespace website. If you’re sending customers to an online course you’ve created with Squarespace Courses, you can also send them directly to the login screen. See also this blog post.
Depending on your subscription, you have access to additional features such as:
Discount codes
Subscriptions and recurring payments
Checkout deals
One-click upsells
Inventory management
In short: even if Bancontact were ever to be supported directly in Squarespace, Plug&Pay still has more to offer.
Mollie as a payment provider
To use Plug&Pay, you also need a Mollie account. Mollie is the payment provider that processes the transactions. You pay Mollie a small fee per transaction. A Bancontact payment currently costs 0.39 euros.
For more information about Mollie, visit www.mollie.com.
You can also integrate with Stripe.
Integration: Mailblue/Active Campaign
Do you use Mailblue or Active Campaign? If so, you can also integrate this with Plug&Pay. After a purchase, the customer is automatically added to the connected list, and you can start an automated email sequence with a confirmation, login details, or more information about your product or service.
How much does Plug&Pay cost?
Plug&Pay offers three subscription plans:
Lite – 25 euros per month (or 180 euros per year). Suitable for up to 3 products and 50 transactions per month.
Premium – €69 per month (or €708 per year). Unlimited products, one-click upsells, subscriptions, discount codes, and up to 500 transactions per month.
Ultimate – €149 per month (or €1,428 per year for those who also want to set up an affiliate program).
All amounts listed are exclusive of VAT and are subject to change. Always check the Plug&Pay website for the current rates.

Do you have an online store? Keep this in mind
Plug&Pay uses separate payment links for each product. That works well for business owners who sell individual products or services. But if you want to create a full-fledged online store where visitors can add multiple products to their cart at once, Plug&Pay isn’t the right solution.
In that case, you should consider Shopify or Ecwid, which do offer a shopping cart feature that supports Bancontact. Be sure to check out this blog post as well.
