You can do a lot with Squarespace, but not everything. Well, you can do anything, but that requires extensive knowledge of code. And you might not want to go through that trouble.

A new extension

But luckily, there's Squarekicker, a Squarespace extension that you can easily install on your site. It lets you make customizations that go beyond Squarespace’s standard features—all without any coding knowledge.

By the way, Squarekicker part of Squarespace itself; it's a new startup from New Zealand.

Squarekicker for Squarespace

What can you do with it?

For example:

  • Install a "Back to Top" button

  • Highlight text

  • Apply a different font to a word on a line

  • How to Create Simple Split Screens

  • Create round images (without having to go through Canva first)

  • Add borders and/or shadows to images

  • Place images across two sections

  • Overlapping images

  • Create slanted sections

You can make changes to all devices at once. But you can also apply changes to just one device, such as mobile. Personally, I sometimes choose to omit an image on mobile because I want to limit scrolling, but I still want that same image to appear on desktop.

It’s also very easy and quick to resize images—for which you use an Image Block—for mobile. Squarespace displays these images across almost the entire width of your mobile screen, and that’s not always what you want. Think, for example, of a logo in your footer or a photo accompanying a testimonial. With Squarekicker , you Squarekicker easily resize these for mobile.

In 7.1, the button options aren't very extensive. If you want to "spice them up" and add a hover effect, for example, you can do that using the hover function. I've done this myself with a few buttons on my site.

Would you like a more visual explanation? Then check out this video from Squarekicker they briefly (2 min) demonstrate the possibilities:

As mentioned, Squarekicker a new startup, so the possibilities will only continue to grow.
